Today It’s My Birthday!

By Mike July 30, 2015

Hello, Journal blog. Today, I’m thankful for my friends who make it so easy for me to cut back and have fun when I feel like I’m all work and no play. Even when I disagree with some of my friends on certain topics which is bound to happen, there’s always a way in which they seem to reciprocate.

We’re all different people and have our own strengths and weaknesses, vices and virtues. So another thing that I’m thankful for is that we’re all so damn interesting! It’s the mixture that makes it all so interesting, is it not? The flavors of life, as they say.

I’m also thankful for the fact that I have so few things to worry about at the end of it all. that comes down to the way I was raised and also the “lone wolf” kind of mindset I have. I think I learned that from being away from my family so much during my whole life.

When I was a kid, my parents split up when I was at a very young age. I was actually two years old, can you believe it? It’s funny because the fact that my parents were divorced never really bothered me until a little bit later in life, when I started to miss the idea of having my mother and father in the same place.

When I was younger, I was always going back and forth, flying to and from my two to stay for a while. This made me a pretty darn independent person and a travel freak to boot. I used to get so excited and apprehensive when I felt that date approaching to hop onto the next airplane.

Nowadays, you won’t find me in a happier and more alive state than when I’m travelling. It’s really gotten down into my blood, into my very spirit if you will. So in a weird way, I’m also thankful for the crazy and chaotic way that the world not only goes, but really works. All this chaos and conflict of forces and it still all works out!

I guess what I’m saying is that although I would love to have my parents all in one place, I’m glad they did what they thought necessary to be happy themselves. It made me a stronger and more interesting person.

I’m also thankful that it’s my birthday! I’m definitely going to have a little shindig with my buddies tonight. It’s going down, call your friends! And get ready for a little bit of alcohol abuse. I guess I’d better get some of my work done stat, because once the party starts, productivity will be at its end for the day.
